The short version: we don't ask anyone for personal information, this website doesn't use cookies or analytics, there are no accounts or sign-ups, and we don't sell or share information about anyone. That includes children.
Who we are
Wonder Bench makes animated, step-by-step science videos for curious kids, published on YouTube at @WonderBenchLab, with notes for parents and teachers on this website. In this policy, "we" means Wonder Bench.
This website
wonderbenchlabs.stream is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, sign-up forms, comments or contact forms, and it doesn't set cookies or use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The light switch and the mascot on the home page run entirely in your browser and don't store or send anything.
Two outside services are involved in showing you the pages:
- Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, it processes the technical details of each request (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser requests font files from Google's servers, which receive your IP address. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Links to YouTube take you to YouTube, where YouTube's own terms and privacy policy apply.
Our YouTube channel
Our videos are marked Made for Kids on YouTube. Under that setting, YouTube limits data collection on those videos and turns off features such as comments and personalized ads. YouTube operates the channel's pages and players under the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. The only viewer information we receive is the aggregated, non-identifying statistics YouTube gives every channel (such as view counts). We can't identify individual viewers.
Children's privacy
Wonder Bench is for kids to watch, and this website is written for the grown-ups who help them. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. There's nowhere on the site to enter it. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
The Wonder Bench publishing tool and YouTube API Services
We publish our own videos with a small internal tool that uses the YouTube API Services. By using it, we're bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of the data involved is covered by the Google Privacy Policy (google.com/policies/privacy).
- Who uses it: only Wonder Bench, signed in to our own YouTube channel. Nobody else signs in to it, and there's no public version.
- What it accesses: our own channel's videos and their details: titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, captions, playlists, privacy settings and scheduled publish times. It uploads our videos and updates those details. It doesn't access other people's channels, viewers' information, comments or subscriber lists.
- What it stores: the sign-in authorization Google issues for our channel, kept only on our own computer, and the IDs of the videos we publish, kept in our project files so our website can link to them.
- Sharing: it shares nothing with anyone. The only data sent anywhere is our own videos and their details, sent to YouTube to publish them.
- Cookies and devices: the tool doesn't place cookies or collect information from anyone's device. It doesn't let third parties serve content or ads.
- Keeping and deleting: the authorization is kept until we revoke it. Video IDs are kept as long as the videos are published.
- Revoking access: any Google account's access granted to an app can be removed at the Google security settings page, security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. That's where we would revoke this tool's access to our channel.
Changes
If what we collect or how we use it ever changes (for example, if we add shopping links for kits on this website), we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
